This site was created by
Mark Sloan to provide a neutral place for
information about animals, environments and volunteer programs. There
are many sites that have information about one or the other, but none (that I have found anyway) link the
information together. The goal is to enable visitors to learn about one area and cross reference to another.
The main pattern we expect is for people to visit the site to learn about an animal and as they learn more, the more involved they will want to be. They can explore the species related to the animal and move through the classification hierarchy to learn even more. Along the way they will learn a little about where the animals live and become interested in that as well. Each animal will have links to the Environment section allowing them to learn about biomes and connections between animals and their surroundings. Because both animals and environments are threatened, visitors will hopefully want to help. And that is where the Volunteer section comes in. In this section users can find out what they can do to make a difference. The site is based on the theory that when educated, people cannot help but want to change the world.
